MINUTES

The Hambden Township Zoning Commission held a public meeting on Monday, August 4, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hambden Town Hall.  The following members were present: Louise Fraser, Lois Cox, Jane Loisdaughter, Ron Eliason, and Helen Scheuring.  Also in attendance were Don Nelson, and Andre Kotlar.
Mrs. Fraser called the public meeting to order, and welcomed guests. Mrs. Fraser informed the Commission members and guests that State Representative Matthew Dolan was unable to attend the meeting.  An aide from State Representative Dolan's office informed Mrs. Fraser by telephone that State Representative Dolan would be willing to attend a future meeting, and that his office is currently on summer leave.
Mrs. Fraser asked the guests if they had any questions or concerns they wished to address.  Mr. Nelson and Mr. Kotlar both stated that they were in attendance only to listen.   
The minutes from July 7, 2008 were read and approved as amended.
Mrs. Welch mentioned that the Commission members should receive their zoning packets a week or more prior to the scheduled meeting. Mrs. Welch requested that the Commission members inform her of any corrections or changes to the draft copy of the minutes a few days before the scheduled meeting, so the changes can be made and distributed to the Commission members.  Mrs. Welch reported that the Zoning Commission's minutes are now being posted on the Hambden Township web site.   

Zoning Inspector's Report
Mrs. Welch submitted the Zoning Report for July 2008.  Mrs. Welch noted that zoning certificates were issued for one new home site, four residential accessory buildings/structures, two agricultural buildings, and one commercial accessory building.  Zoning violations were issued to seven residents, and four letters of compliance with zoning were mailed, Mrs. Welch stated.

Copy of letter from the Geauga County Planning Commission to Ryan Sommers, dated July 9, 2008, concerning Coldwater Reserve Subdivision final plat.

Copy of the current revisions to the "Model Township Zoning Resolution", dated May 30, 2008 from the Geauga County Planning Commission.  Mrs. Welch asked the Zoning Commission members to update their books.

Copy of the Ohio Township Association Legislative Update from June 2008 issue from Grassroots Clippings newsletter, which concerns a few of the bills and issues moving through the Ohio legislative process.  Mrs. Scheuring mentioned that a vote on HB 232 concerning agricultural fencing and other fencing issues is coming within the next few months by the House and Senate.
The four "Zoning Bulletin" pamphlets that reference sign court case rulings were furnished by the Zoning Department.  The pamphlets are to aid the Zoning Commission on the rewriting of Article VII Signs.
Copies of the Township directory and zoning fee schedule were submitted by Mrs. Welch to the Commission members for reference.
