Mr. Heald reported that the road department does not need the pagers any longer. All the road department and part time seasonal employees have their own cell phones and they no longer us the pagers. Mrs. Chorman will cancel the pager service and return the pagers to USA Mobility.
TOWNHALL Mrs. Pope reported that she will begin calling for quotes of architectural plans for replacing the front stairs and sidewalk. The building department will allow replacement if replaced with the same footprint, otherwise we must follow the new safety codes which would extend the steps and sidewalk too close to the front sign.
Mrs. Pope reported that she has been contacted by Mrs. Cianfaglione concerning the sale of her property at the corner of Routes 6 & 166. The Board of Trustees has discussed the possibility of purchasing the front area of her property to be used as "green space". Mrs. Pope will set up a time for the board to meet with Mrs. Cianfaglione to discuss the details. A certified appraisal and environmental impact study would be needed before any offer is made.
SAFETY Mr. McClintock reported that the road department continues to watch the weekly safety videos.
PARK Mr. McClintock reported that the Park Board met on January 13th. Mike Romans was appointed Chairman and Cindi Chilbert was appointed Secretary. No Vice Chairman has been appointed as of yet.
Mrs. Pope read the inscription the park board wishes to place on the Veteran's Memorial. "Dedicated to our Veterans. Gone from home but not from our hearts." This will be inscribed the next time names are inscribed on the memorial wall. Mrs. Pope would also like the word Veteran changed to Veterans.
Mrs. Chorman reported that she filed the tax exempt certificate for the latest 10 acres of park land acquired but received a property tax bill today. Mr. McClintock stated that the township will be reimbursed the back taxes when the paperwork for the tax exempt status is completed.
CEMETERY Mr. Heald reported that there are several repairs needed to the cemetery buildings this spring.
MISCELLANEOUS Mr. McClintock reported that Kent State University Geauga Campus will be holding an Elected Officials Academy, five part program to be held every Wednesday starting on February 17, 2010. Mrs. Chorman stated that is the day before the Ohio Township Association winter conference.
Mrs. Chorman reported that she is still unable to get franchise fees from Zito Media. Mr. McClintock suggested having Assistant Prosecutor, Susan Weiland send a letter.
Mr. McClintock reported that the IRS has dropped the mileage reimbursement rate from $.55 to $.50 for 2010.
Mr. McClintock reported that on February 9, 2010 Hiram College is hosting a "Protect your Farm Land" presentation at 6:00 pm in the Kennedy Center Ballroom. It will help farmers and others interested in preserving their property and realize the options available to them. Mr. McClintock further stated that this presentation fits one of the recommendations for community education as outlined in the revised Land Use Plan.
Mr. McClintock asked if any residents had any further questions or concerns to bring before the Board. There were none.
